Providing Access to Middle/Junior High School Education

Education is a vital need for all children in the community and especially for the girls.

The Facts:

1. In Bandor there is one elementary school.
2. The middle/high school is miles away from Bandor.
3. Largely only boys are allowed to travel far away for the next level after completing their elementary education.
4. Most girls return home after elementary and are either married off or shuttled to become home helpers.
5. Access to a secondary level of education will enable students to attain the Junior High School Examination Certificate upon graduation.
6. Enrollment ratios for girls as a whole in Liberia is reported by UNICEF to be as low as 12 percent.

Goal:  Focus on providing accessible education to the children of the community, especially the girls, by building a middle/junior high school complete with teachers' quarters.
